OK, I’m way behind on my blog.  I have a few entries I still plan to get to, from 2007 (!).  Bad me.  Especially our trip to Durango, filled with many sights and sounds.

So in the short term, I plan to make a few entries about some of the highlights that passed this year, so far.

And the first of these…

in February, both Sandy and Bonnie performed at the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival.  Sandy performed with the Roosevelt Jazz Band #2, performing admirably in the high school division:

Bonnie plays lead trombone for the Eckstein Middle School band, and they won first place overall in the middle school division, and her combo won first place in the middle school combo division. In both cases, one of the songs involved a huge solo on her part.

 An interesting aside… as part of the evening showcase concert on Friday evening, a featured performer was Sara Gazarek, who graduated from Sandy’s school in 2001 (or thereabouts).  I took a few photos of her performance and sent them to Sara who put them on [1] her own web site.
